I've run into that problem before, too.  However, when I've offered them in 
the most friendly of ways that it's for a nonprofit educational purpose, 
they generally relent.  Whether they are willing with that information or 
not, I wouldn't exercise it beyond a most courteous offering of the concept 
to see if you get cooperation.
