Very much.  My last name in real life is Cunningham, which is a Scottish lowland name.  Ayr, Scotland is where the Cunninghams lived.

Tracing my genealogy, I have discovered that my line came directly from Scotland in the late 1700's to the Americas. My line did not come through Ireland like some other Cunninghams did. They settled in the early 1800's in the Parkersburg, West Virginia area (although it was Virginia back then) and most of my relatives are still there today.  

So my name is Kathryn of Ayr because of my genealogy.
