[Steppes] how many teachers among us?

Hi there,

Believe it or not I do have certification in secondary schools to teach Speech and Drama (these were my majors) with a minor in English and History.

I had about 3/4 of my masters done in with a major in drama and a minor in English when I had to drop out for financial reasons.

Ciard, I came to that conclusion a long time ago. :-)

Anyway, I'm certified for secondary education (6-12) in French. I also received my M.A. in French a few years ago (French history and culture were my foci). I have taught French at UNT, Collin County Community College, and 9-12 for Plano ISD.

I understand the "inability to handle stress." I left Plano ISD for that reason - Administration, micro-managing, discipline problems, upset parents, etc., all add up to too much stress for me, too. Some schools are better than others, though, so I wouldn't put it all in a nutshell. However, college and university teaching is so much easier. For now, I'll be subbing for foreign language classes in the school districts.

Just curious, how many members of the Steppes have ever studied to be or worked as a Teacher in schools?

What were your major fields? Length of time working?

I studied Special Ed. Physically Handicapped Elementary at Texas Woman's Univ. in Denton.
Minored in History. Never taught due to inability to handle stress.

I'll bet we have a lot of teachers!
