Subject: [Steppes] Assistance for 4th July at Old City Park

Hi, y'all:

Among my many activities in retirement has been helping with demos at Old
City Park in Dallas. This is a 1840-1910 village set up to show what life
was like in North Texas back then. Similar to the Heritage Farmstead
Museum, for those who know the place in Plano.

They have asked not only for demo-ers, but also craftspersons who want to
sell items, for their July 4th event. You do need to have your wares
vetted, and they should fall into the appropriate timeperiod. I don't know
about everybody, but I do know SCA craftspersons whose goods can pass for
19th Century or who also do later periods of work.

Here is the announcement (it has graphics, and I don't know if they will
come through, hopefully the text will):

28th Annual Old-Fashioned Fourth at Old City Park

Sunday, July 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m

We are seeking heritage craft vendors whose work is consistent with the
1840-1910 era theme of Old City Park. Old City Park will provide a free
location and table for set-up, asking nothing but 10% of the day's gross
receipts.

The number of vendors will be limited and anyone interested must submit (by
mail or by email) photographs of their work, so that we may ensure its
consistency with the mission of Old City Park. We are specifically seeking
weavers, broom-makers, and basket-makers, but are open to all kinds of
heritage crafts.

Dallas' longest-running Fourth of July celebration at Old City Park: The
Historical Village of Dallas. This year's theme is "Backyard Barbecue,"
featuring delicious barbecue prepared onsite by Texas barbecue specialist
Eddie Deen. Parking is free. Tickets are $5 at the gate, or $12.50 for
admission + Eddie Deen's barbeque buffet.

If you are interested in being a vendor, please contact:

They have a small notice on their calendar:

I will be there with fiber workers, so if you want to knit or crochet or
embroider or spin WITHOUT selling items, let me know. Some of us will be in
costume, but they have not required it for demo workers in the past. They
just ask that we work on things that are not glaringly out-of-period. I
used our last one to work on socks for a mother's day gift.

For those wondering how else I fill my time:
