Hello,

I work for the North texas Tollway Authority, they are ALWAYS hiring. Go to
www.ntta.org and look at the postings. ALL jobs are guarenteed 40 hours a
work, rain, snow or shine and NO overtime. The B.O.S.S. position starts at
about $10.00 an hour. Its working in a booth making change. Doesn't sound
like much, but it gets your foot in the door and after 6 months you can
apply to transfer to other positions. Bad news about the B.O.S.S. position
is you will start out on the extra board so you will not have a set schedule
and you will work any shift, any day. The other bad news is you could be
assigned to any location on the DNT or PGBT, but once assigned to a
location, that is where you will be untill you put in a request to transfer
to another location, but you have to wait 6 months. Other good news, you
start with full benefits including a 3X base salary double indemnity life
insurance policy. It is kinda boring work, but in this job excitement means
a wreck or a robbery. Wrecks happen fairly often but usually when you are
not at work and robberies
onkly once in awhile. I am aware of only 2 this year. Last year we had a guy
who robbed about 5 booths before he was caught. Company policy is give them
the money and hit the panic button, but above all, be safe.
I am a shift supervisor, was promoted last august after 2 1/2 years with
them. If you apply they will ask if you have any freinds or relatives
working the tollway. Might as well tell them you belong to a historical
recreation group and a member, Joe Horton, told you about the company and
encouraged you to apply. Also, when you are hired, you sign a video and
audio survalence agreement and you will be under constant survallance. This
is more for your protection than anything else and it really is a safe job.
Plus the shifts run a straight 8 hours and you are paid for breaks and
lunch, which means you cannot leave the premises once you start working.
Also the shifts run from 5:35 am to 1:35pm, 1:30 pm to 9:30 pm and 9:25pm to
5:40 am. so traffic is almost non-existant when you go to or from work, that
way you can work rush-hour. Its best to get to work about 10 minutes early
so you can catch up on where you are assigned to work and anything thats
going on.
Wish you luck in whatever you pursue and happy holidays. (yes, i am working
this christmas, but holidays are paid and i get paid for working them. they
call this double time, but i am in one of the few departments that is
required to work 40 hours a week, so wether or not i actually work the
holiday, i will get my 40 hours plus the holiday pay)
