I forgot to add this little bit of info to my initial email.  I have wanted a friesian for as long as I can remember but when I started with the SCA  I was excited to learn that Friesians are a 'period' breed.  They are one of the oldest breeds in Europe and were even used in Roman times.  Here are a few links if you might be interested in learning more about the breed:
