My 85+ year old uncle and my 80+ year old aunt are still missing from
Chalmette LA, one of the hardest hit areas for flooding. While I normally would not
spread my personal tragedies publicly on the lists, I am beyond panic now
trying to locate them. I am registered with both the Red Cross and the Salvation
Army and am regularly haunting their list sites. Along with millions of
others worldwide, family comes first -- while I appreciate the devastation of the
Gulf War site and everyone's desire to help there, please do not forget that
for some of us, the loss is much more personal.
If any of you are keeping refugees, please ask if they have heard of David
and Katie Saunders of Chalmette. And for those of you with the means and heart,
please give generously to those organizations that are trying to locate and
help both the human and animal victims of this tragedy. And please, keep those
of us who are still hoping to hear positive word in your thoughts and prayers.
