Heilsa, Quill

Welcome to the Barony - I am the Knight Marshal, LD Michael Kettering. A
number of good gentles have already sent welcoming messages. So, I will
add my own as well.

I hope that you will enjoy both your job, the area and of course all of
the activities that you wish explore here in this portion of the SCA world.

The heavy fighting practice is on Sunday and it starts at 2 PM at Mary
Heads Carter (MHC) park in Carrollton, Texas. Just north of city of
Dallas, Carrollton is within Dallas County, so it is not in a different
county and only about 15 miles or so from downtown.

The main rapier practice is held on Tuesday's nights at a different park
- see the web site for location and start time. Don Ingve is in charge
of this practice.

The reason why I bring up the heavy fighter practice, is that a small
group of rapier folks are starting up a practice out at this park (MHC)
at the same time, only with a start time of 3 PM. Ld Canacan is the good
gentle who is heading up this group. I hope that you will come on out
and would enjoy meeting with you.

A word about the Mary Heads Carter park - it is level ground, enough
room for both heavy and rapier practice to happen at the same time.
Parking is seldom an issue, there is a playground with easy sight and
yelling distance, and the restrooms are clean and well maintained. I
would suggest the following:

Bring a chair
What ever type of liquid you wish to drink - water, gatorade, etc...
If you are fighting, then about a gallon or so...
Energy snacks - oranges, pickles, etc...
Sun screen
A hat...

Once you get settled in, I hope that you will come out to see both the
heavy and the rapier practice on Sunday afternoon.

YIS,
Lord Michael Kettering
Steppes Knight Marshal
