[Steppes] June Business Meeting Notes - Information

Greetings!

Our business meeting at Humperdink’s was a nice departure from New New buffet, but the area was not conducive to holding a meeting. However, we were able to have a good time and celebrate all the hard work that happened during the month of May for Warlord and other events. On July 6th, we will be back at New New. However, we are looking for other places to try for meetings, so if you know of a place with a meeting room that does not require all people in the meeting to buy dinner, then please let us know

I desperately need volunteers in all areas of the Barony to host populace meetings. Populace is held on the 4th Friday, unless that makes it the Friday before business meeting (which is held on the first Monday), then it’s held on the 3rd Friday.

Events

We have some closeout information on Warlord 09 and we are in the black! We had an average of 200 people camp and 200 people day trip.  We will be doing some lessons learned in the next couple of months, in hopes to prepare a document that will help us run Warlord more smoothly in future.

Mistress Genevieve will be the autocrat for Kings Round Table, held at UTA in July. This even doesn’t require a lot of work on our part, but please respond if she needs or asks for volunteers or support.

Lady Elec is our autocrat for Steppes Artisan. This event is coming in August along with Elfsea’s Baronial College. A website should be online shortly. Please let Elec know if there is something that you would like to help with at this event. She is working on getting all of her departments in order and will need help to get everything underway.

Bids are open for 12th Night. If you want to autocrat this event, please get your bid in as soon as possible. If you need help, please contact me and I’ll be glad to assist you. If you don’t have a site for the event, don’t worry, I can give you data that will help you with a general budget, which is all you need to have initially.

Bids are open for Warlord 2010. I already have a bid and hope to get more. This year we will be choosing the autocrat for this event earlier to avoid the headaches we had this past year with the late start we got due to the lack of bids. If you have questions about this, please contact me and I can help you get started. We will have a lot of information about how to run Warlord and support if you are worried about autocratting a large event.

Offices:

The following offices are open for application

Minister of A&S – open through June and July. We are looking for an energetic person who is excited about the arts in Steppes. You don’t have to be a laurel you just need to be able to support activities and generate some excitement about our guilds and A&S community. Send your application to Mistress Serena, regional A&S, the Baroness, and Seneschal.

Exchequer – open through June and July. Alasdair is stepping down (most likely to serve the kingdom elsewhere), so we are looking for his replacement. He is a fantastic Exchequer and will be able to help show you the ropes. His interim is HL Katya. Send your application to Alasdair, regional Exchequer, Baroness, and Seneschal.

Hospitaler: Open starting June 1, but will be open for a few months. We would like to replace this office by the end of the year, and Lady Vy wants to train someone. We would like some overlap for the purpose of training. Send your application to Lady Vyolante, regional Hospitaler, Baroness, and Seneschal.

Seneschal Deputy:

I am looking for a deputy. If you are interested in this please contact me. No application is required. If you don’t know what is required of a Seneschal, I suggest you attend King’s Round Table. There will be a Seneschal Warranting class there that will answer all your questions. I would be happy to help or answer any questions that you might have.

Financial Committee:

After two years of service, Master Robin is stepping down as a member of the financial committee. If you are interested, please send an application to him, HL Alasdair, Her Excellency and the Seneschal.

Please remember to renew your memberships when they come up. You must be a member of the SCA to apply for an office, bid on an event, or be on the financial committee.
