[Steppes] Archery kit

Dear Bowyers and Fletchers,

I have a modern style, 68", 50# "longbow" that I'd like to use to do some
shooting. My dad has some experience building arrows, but I'm unsure how to
choose the correct shafts for my arrows. Is it good enough to buy them based
on the nominal "50#" marked on the bow, or is there some better way of
measuring it?

Also, does pretty much everyone use glued-on plastic nocks, or are people
cutting self-nocks or finding other, more period materials?
