Thought I would forward this; sounds interesting if not entirely period:
For those who may not have heard of this opportunity elsewhere.........
On Oct. 16 at 3 in the auditorium of the downtown Dallas Public Library,
there will be a concert of music seldom performed on instruments not often
heard. The Rio Brazos group will play a diverse collection of pieces on
recorders. According to one of the members, there will be everything from
"contemporary shenanigans," a patriotic set, Hungarian folk tunes, a piece
by one of the Flanders Quartet (a remarkable recorder group), possibly a
world premier (not specified, but definitely newly composed), to some
standard recorder repertoire.
This is a link to the entire 2011-2012 series with information about the
performers. All concerts are on Sunday afternoons at the library and are
free.
