Hello, They have announced one of the new supervisors at work and it was not me, do not think i got the other position either. However in the last 2 weeks 2 people have been fired. So sometime in the near future there will be 2 openings for Roadway Customer Service Specialist at the NTTA. I think starting pay is $13.80. It is shift work at a 24/7/365 operation. No telling what shift you will be put on, once a year we bid on shifts by seniority. Your days off will change every 4 weeks. If you are scheduled to work, you are expected to make an effort to get there "." Notice there is nothing in the statement about ice, rain, tornados or holidays and etc. This job is hazardous. Your function is twofold: 1. Prevent traffic collisions by removing road hazards and assisting stranded motorist. 2. When it is too late to prevent, assist police and fire with traffic control, clean-up and rescue*. * The rescue assist part is somewhat optional, however you will be first on scene occasionally and need to update dispatch as to what is going on and what type of assistance is needed. I personally have seen several dead people and given first aid a few times waiting for the ambulance to arrive. Training is very good. There will be classroom training with a comprehensive final exam. Minimum passing grade is 80. Grades of 75 to 79 will receive a 1 week refresher course and given 1 final oportunity to pass the exam. I personally scored 92. Following the classroom training you will be given field training where you are paired up with someone to help you get a feel of what actually goes on and how to apply the training in real world environment. They will also observe your performance and relay that to management. After field training you will work each shift for a length of time. This is to give you experiance on what happens on the different shifts. First and second shift are basically the same, just locations of incidents are a little differeent because on first people are going to work, on second people are going home the other way. Third shift is the shift i am on. It is a different animal altogether. Traffic tends to move much faster as there are not as many people on the road. We have 2 short rush hours on third shift instead of one long one as the other two shifts have. Our first rush hour 2a.m., when the bars close and 3am is the second, when people leave denny's and whataburger because they think eating something will sober them up.I do not know when exactly they will post the positions, but anyone interested in these positions or just looking for work should go towww.ntta.orgAt the bottom of the page is a button labled employment. Check it frequently as it changes about every 2 weeks. I will post again when i hear the jobs have been posted. Good luck to anyone who applies for these or any position. joe h.Iosef of Graeywood
