Really? well thats curious. Can someone find out
about that for sure? if thats the case then that kind
of rules out using this site for future events, unless
you can convince them to take a dollar from you and
give you a reciept or something.

Is the populace allowed to know what the cost
submitted was?

Why wouldnt he let us use our pages for this year?
That doesnt make much sense to me...

Well, a war college sounded a heck of a lot more fun
to me than a fighter practice. I practice sometimes
twice a week, why would i need to add a third? What
would this practice offer that others dont? Other
fighters are going to be asking the same questions,
and honestly, if there's not really that much to
offer, why would anyone really want to come? If
others have no motivation to come, than all you end up
with is a normal Tempio practice of three fighters, so
whats the point?

Good doesnt have to mean elaborate. There are a lot
of small groups in the kingdom that put on great
events. I feel like Tempio has lost its perspective
and gotten stuck in a "we cant" attitude. Yes, Tempio
used to have a lot more people willing to help, but
that doesnt make you helpless. There are a lot of
young groups in the kingdom that have as many or less
active members than we do, that put on good events
because they have the enthusiasm to do so. And as far
as having fun goes, theres nothing that says you can
work your butt off for the sake of your group and have
fun at the same time.

Meaning no personal jabs at anyone in particular, but
if we offer people fun as opposed to a lot of argueing
and yelling, yes, they would be more inclined to come,
help, and have fun all at the same time. :)

When will we be at out best, and what will get us
there? Out of everything in the shire we discuss,
those are the most important questions, arent they?
Aside from that, i still think the event bid was a
really good one, and I think maybe its something we
might want to try again sometime if we have the
opportunity in the future.

<<At this particular time, I

I agree, which is why i was against using Shire funds
for the Habitat for Humanity project, despite the
worthiness of the cause. But we shouldnt forget the
cost of the Gober House each year, and dont we lose
money on the Yule Revel? The shire needs to at least
make an attempt at generating an income in the near
future, after having gone a year without a single
event.

getting enough

Well once again, i dont know what the amount was, but
wouldnt the primary expense have been for the extra
potty? You can ask my mother, i'm no financial genius
by a long shot, it sounds to me like this event could
be pulled off for less than $150, not counting the
tavern, which is going to be done anyway apparently.
No investment is ever a gaurantee. And personally, i
think its better to do an event, and do the best you
can, and take that risk, than to do nothing at all and
sit back and watch the Incredible Shrinking Balance in
the account. I have to stress again the importance of
how Tempio looks to Kingdom. We're either going to
have no senechal or no reeve, we already have no
events...

At least if we make an attempt at an event people want
to go to, even if it doesnt make us a lot of money, it
shows everyone we're still here, and we're capable of
functioning as a group. Because as far as i can see,
Tempio isnt a goup. Tempio is a name, a bank account
account, and a few people who meet once a month and
argue. That isnt a group. What does Tempio do as a
group? Does it feel like a community to you guys?
Because it doesnt to me anymore. 90% of Tempio doesnt
even go to events anymore. We have no hospitaler, no
reeve, we do no demos, we hold no events, and we scare
away new people interested in the SCA with the
bickering. We all know Kingdom is takeing a long hard
look at Tempio. If Tempio wants to survive into next
year, you do that by proving your worth, not by
sitting back and guarding your coffers. I dont know
if having a good event can save the group or not, but
i'll tell you this: If things stay the way they are,
Tempio will lose ALL its money, because it wont exist
anymore.
You all know i'm leaving the group at the end of the
year regardless of what happens, but i sincerely hope
to see Tempio recover and thrive. All i'm saying is
that unless things change, the Shire wont, and its
about time someone said it.
