I think the social aspects can be somewhat nebulous. However the
administrative aspects are a pretty clear.
For the archery marshallate the duties are pretty well defined at:
http://marshal.ansteorra.org/archery/files/duties.pdf
For the most part those sames duties exist for all branches of the
marshallate. You can basically replace "Archery Marshal" with "Armored
Combat Marshal" or "Rapier Combat Marshal" or "Siege Marshal" or
"Thrown Weapons Marshal" or "Equestrian Marshal" and the list of duties
would pretty much still be applicable with few exceptions. The few
exceptions are things like waiver collection. Target Archery doesn't
require waivers (neither does thrown weapons) so the document doesn't
say anything about waivers but a Rapier Marshal or Armored Combat
Marshal would have to make sure that waivers were checked, and collected
and submitted to the waiver secretary regularly. Additionally the
Archery Marshals only have to report on a quarterly basis but your
branch Armored Combat or Rapier Combat Marshal is supposed to report
monthly.
The Complete Participants Handbook section 10 has the requirements for
all branches of the Ansteorran Marshallate.

The other administrative handbooks on the kingdom website can point you
to the requirements for other offices. For instance, the heralds
handbook at:
http://heraldry.ansteorra.org/docs/COHAdmin_Handbook_2007.pdf
has the requirements for heralds paid out quite clearly.
Go to http://treasurer.ansteorra.org/documents.php
<http://treasurer.ansteorra.org/documents.php> and you will find the
documents that outline the duties for treasurers.
http://moas.ansteorra.org/ <http://moas.ansteorra.org/>willl have the
resources for the A&S Ministers.
http://seneschal.ansteorra.org/ <http://seneschal.ansteorra.org/> will
have the seneschals data.
etc. etc. etc.
Just go www.ansteorra.org, from there to officers, and for each of the
Kingdom officers web pages you should be able to find their
administrative handbooks. They are pretty easy to find.
To apply for an office the best way is to talk to the the appropriate
regional or kingdom officer who wish to be a deputy to or who you wish
to replace. All of their contact information is in the Black Star.
Then fill out the application for office at
http://www.ansteorra.org/publications/forms/
and get it and any other required information to the upline officer.
Other information will be things like proof of membership, proof of
authorization (if needed for that office), and proof of identity (if
needed for that office). In general the best first step is always to
contact the regional or kingdom upline who will be accepting your
application and talk to them first so they can tell you exactly what
they will need and expect from you.
