[Ansteorra-announce] Elfsea Defender Ballista Challenge

Greetings from Mistress Stella Silvana-
	Bring your ballistas to Elfsea Defender, September 21-23,  for the
Ballista Challenge! Each crew which fires their ballista ten times in a row
without a misfire or mechanical failure will win a prize!
	You must provide your own ballista and ammunition and these must meet the
new seige engine requirements. Other seige engines besides ballistas may
take up the Challenge so long as they meet the new seige engine
requirements.
	The seige engine rules are posted on the SCA.org website. The primary
changes are that seige engines must have mechanical cocking and firing
mechanisms, you may not cock them by hand, and ballista bolts must be at
least 48 inches with splices and head tied with both cord and straping
tape.
	For the Challenge, there must be a crew of at least two. Since this will
take place on a target range, the crew does not have to be in armor.
(Remember that in an actual melee the crew would need to be fully armored!)
You should have at least ten bolts. No sharing of ballistas or ammunition!
	Any shot that falls short of 8 feet will be considered a misfire.
	You will have only two chances to fire ten shots, so I would suggest that
you practice with your ballista before the event to make sure it is up to
the Challenge!
