Come one, come all, and enter the Arts and Sciences Competition at
Steppes Warlord!
Come on into the air conditioned hall for a day of display and classes.
The competition will be held on Saturday and set-up will take place from
9:00 - 11:00.
For the competition, you may enter up to two pieces for judging, but may
display as much as you like.
There will be several catagories for judging:
Most impressive work by a child 12 and under
Most impressive work by a new SCA artist (first competition)
Most impressive work in a new medium (4 months or less).
Most impressive overall.
Special recognition will be given to the artisan who best represents,
"The Heat of Summer."
There will be stained glass for the most impressive overall!
Documentation is required only if you want the Laurels and others who
are judging to know what on earth you are displaying and how closely you
came to creating it in a period fashion (in other words, pretty good
thing to have ;) ). In addition, if you have a particularly portable
craft, come, work on it, and informally demonstrate to others how it is
done.
Artisans of all levels, including Laurels, are strongly encouraged to
enter.
There will also be two tracks of classes- one "hands on" where you may
learn a new craft and the other lecture-based. These are likely to
include a course on how to write effective documentation, as well as
Judging 101.
More information to come about the classes, which will be coordinated by
HL Radegund of Tours.
If you have any questions about the competition, contact Mistress Isobel
