Unto the members of the Society, greetings:

The deadline for applications for the positions of Tournaments Illuminated
Editor and Art Director have been extended to September 30, 2003. Following
is an announcement concerning these positions.

Position Available: Editor and Art Director of Tournaments Illuminated

The warrant for the Editor and Art Director of Tournaments Illuminated
expires in January 2004, and the current Editor and Art Director have
expressed their desire to step down at that point.  In order to ensure a
smooth period of transition, applications for the positions of Editor and
Art Director of Tournaments Illuminated are now being accepted.

Candidates for the Editor position should have professional editorial
experience, the ability to meet deadlines and organize a staff, familiarity
with SCA publications, and a vision for the future for Tournaments
Illuminated.  Experience with academic citation styles and the ability to
choose articles based on interest to Tournaments Illuminated's audience,
readability, and (where appropriate) historical accuracy are also desirable.
Communications skills are also important to the position.

Candidates for the Art Director position should have expertise with modern
magazine production, the ability to meet deadlines, and the ability to work
with printers.  Since the Art Director is responsible for Tournaments
Illuminated's layout, he or she should also have access to a computer system
configured for desktop publishing.
E-mail access is absolutely vital to the position.  Experience has shown
that high speed internet access is also very useful, although not required.

Past experience has shown that the Editor and the Art Director work more
easily together when they are in the same general locale.  This arrangement
is preferable, although not required, and candidate teams are encouraged to
apply together.  Single applications will also be considered.  The
Editor/Art Director can be the same person if the candidate has all of the
necessary skills.  Both positions receive a small stipend.
