To the Kingdom of Ansteorra, the Shire of Mooneschadowe sends greetings!

We invite all those within our fair kingdom to the 24th Guardian Tournament to be held September 17th through 19th at Will Rogers Boy Scout Reservation located near Cleveland, Oklahoma.

On Saturday, Mooneschadowe will host will host two Chivalric tournaments, Archery, Thrown Weapons, Bardic, Arts and Sciences, and a Chess Tournament.

Our Guardian tournament will be an Arabic Seven Tourney. The tourney will consist of seven rounds of scored fighting following a designated format:  1st round-fighters choice; 2nd round-spear; 3rd round-polearm; 4th round-greatsword; 5th round-two weapon; 6th round- two handed axe (under 6 foot); 7th round-fighters choice.

If there are fighters with equal numbers of wins after seven rounds, fighting will continue with pairings done in the Ansteorran ‘shuffle and pair’ style. Who will become the next Guardian of our fair Shire?

In addition to this tournament, our current Guardian will be sponsoring a Guardian Defender Tourney. This tournament is for all past Guardians who wish to fight for the honor of being the ‘Guardian Defender’. Format will be standard double elimination.

Archers will compete in an IKAC format tournament to become the newest Yeoman of Mooneschadowe. 

Thrown Weapons competitors will perform six throws with each an axe, knife, and spear. Distances of targets will be 15 feet for knife, 25 feet for axe, and 35 feet for spear. One point shall be awarded per stick in the target. Throws struck in the marked area shall be awarded three points. A throw off will occur with random weapon style if a tie exists. Mooneschadowe’s Marksman will be the gentle with the highest number of points. 

Bards are invited to perform their best pieces within any of the five categories of song, poem, story, instrumental, and other (i.e. juggling, magic, dance, etc.). No specific theme is requested. Prizes will be awarded in all categories. To compete for the title of 'Minstrel of Mooneschadowe' a bard must perform a piece in three out of the five categories.

Artisans will compete in a populace vote open format competition based on artistic ability rather than documentation. Artisans are encouraged to show pieces that they ordinarily may be unable to show due to lack of "proper historical documentation". So bring your ‘pretties’ to compete for the title of Mooneschadowe Artisan.

After a glorious day of competition, join us in the hall for a wondrous German Hunt Feast prepared by Honorable Lord Marke von Mainz. For the first course, you will be served duck, salat, peas, deviled eggs, and berries. Second course of ham, sweet potatoes, baked onions, stuffed mushrooms, and honeyed nuts. A final course of venison, German apple pancakes, barley, lentils, and baked pears. Various breads and cheeses will be served throughout the meal. All this for a paltry sum of $8 per person.

As the night cools, their majesties will hold court. Upon conclusion of court various forms of merriment will continue into the wee morning hours.

Sunday, arise to our Rapier and Newcomer Chivalric tournaments.

Mooneschadowe's Insegnante Rapier tournament seeks to reward that fighter who is a paragon of grace, skill, honor, and flair. Insegnante is the Italian word for Instructor and reflects that the champion serves as an example to others, and is judged on style as well as skill. Winner is elected by previous Insegnanti, list-mistresses, and fellow fighters. Tournament will be a five round with style of each round determined by previous Insegnantes present the day of the tournament. An additional prize will be given to the fighter with the most wins. 

Lord Redulf von Kol, Cadet to Don Elric Dracwine, will be sponsoring a Youth Rapier Tourney. Format to be determined by number of entrants.

In addition to the Rapier tourneys, Sieur Jean Paul de Sens will be sponsoring a New Chivalric Fighter Tourney. Format for this tourney will be determined by the number of entrants.

Site fee is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6-12 with children under 6 free. Family max of $25. Site opens at 4 p.m. on Friday and closes at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
