To those of you who will be attending Bryn
Gwlad's Candlemas event with children, I wish to
make available a list of activities of particular
interest to our youth.

Almost all of the A & S classes and several of
the dance classes offered are open to at least
some minors. Visit the class schedule at
<http://bryn-gwlad.ansteorra.org/candlemas04/class.shtml>
to view details.

Don Maelgwyn is offering an informational course
on youth boffer (for parents and participants) at
9:00 a.m., immediately followed by an outdoor
boffer practicum (weather permitting).

The Bryn Gwlad Youth Guild is scheduled to
perform a brief play immediately following the
noon court.

The Ministry of Children will be providing adult
supervision for minors (over the age of 5) signed
in by their parents at three classes which have
been specifically designed to be welcoming to
children. (Children under 5 are also welcome to
attend these classes, but must bring their own
adults.):

1:00 p.m.--An Introduction to Heraldry, with Ldy. Pegasus Devona

2:00 p.m.--Charter Painting (an Introduction), with Ld. Alfred Huddlestone

3:00 p.m.--An Early Period Games Workshop, with Vilhiálmr Vetr

Bryn Gwlad's youth, coordinated by the Minister
of Children, are invited to assist with
transition, removing the trappings of the day's
classes and setting up the hall for the feast and
evening court. (We'll gather near the Or class
space after the final classes of the day.)

Children are also encouraged to assist in serving the feast.

The MoC will, with the aid of volunteers, be
doing storytelling and providing other quiet
entertainments for the children during evening
court, probably in the space which earlier in the
day will have served as gate.

We hope that, with a full day's activities
planned, opportunities for service, and
entertainments, there will be something of
interest to every child present.

By the way, you need not be a parent to volunteer
to assist with children's activities. We are
still in need of a couple of "extra adults" to
back up our teachers and could use several more
storytellers (or readers) or individuals capable
of otherwise quietly entertaining the children
during court. Please e-mail me directly, or
speak to me on the day of the event, if you'd
like to pitch in.
