Greetings unto the members of the SCA:

The deadline for applications for three Corporate/Society-level positions -
Treasurer of the SCA Inc., Chief Information Architect, and Society
Chronicler - is fast approaching! If you have the necessary qualifications,
and time to commit, for any of these offices, I encourage you to apply.

1.	Position Available - Treasurer, SCA Inc.

The Board of Directors is accepting applications for the unpaid position of
Treasurer of the SCA.

According to our By-Laws, "The Treasurer shall keep and maintain, or cause
to be kept and maintained, adequate and correct accounts of the properties
and business transactions of the SCA, including accounts of its assets,
liabilities, receipts, disbursements, gains, losses, capital, retained
earnings, and other matters customarily included in financial statements.

The Treasurer shall deposit (or cause to be deposited) all moneys and other
valuables in the name of and to the credit of the SCA with all such
depositories as may be designated by the Board. The Treasurer shall disburse
(or cause to be disbursed) the funds of the SCA as may be ordered by the
Board, shall render to the Board, whenever they request it, an account of
all the Treasurer's transactions as Treasurer and of the financial condition
of the SCA, and shall have such other powers and perform such other duties
as may be prescribed by the Board or these By-Laws."

The Treasurer interacts with the SCA's accountant, Vice President for
Corporate Operations, Society Seneschal, the Investment Committee, and the
Board of Directors as necessary.  The Treasurer supervises the Society
Chancellor of the Exchequer. The Treasurer is also responsible for preparing
the annual budget and for participating in discussions regarding financial
and long range planning for the SCA. About 20 hours per month are needed for
this job; during the budget cycle, it will grow to 40 to 60 hours. Some
travel to Board meetings may be required; expenses will be reimbursed in
those cases.

2. Position Available - Chief Information Architect. 
 
The SCA Information Architect is responsible for, but not limited to, the
following areas/functions:
·	Manage the ongoing design, maintenance, and enhancement of
Electronic Information media for such Corporate-level operations as: 
o	Databases 
o	Mailing Lists 
o	Web pages 
o	Online announcements 
o	Online memberships 
o	Online Stock Clerk
·	Provide Corporate Staff with proposed automation designs that
accommodate business functionality specified. 
·	Organize and manage the volunteer staff required to accomplish
approved automation projects for the SCA, Inc. 
·	Coordinate with corporate officers to collect functional
specifications for automation projects 
·	Recommend technologies for automation projects that are appropriate
for the user-base and the tasks being accomplished. 
·	Establish information security practices and procedures 
·	Advise Corporate Staff of technology issues requiring attention and
manage the resolution of the same. 
·	Develop and maintain the Corporate Information Technology Management
Plan
 
The Chief Information Architect reports to the Vice President of Operations,
with matrix responsibilities to the Vice President of Corporate Operations,
Society President, and Board of Directors. This is an unpaid position.
 
Candidates for this position should have demonstrated excellence in the
areas of:
·    Web Design and Development technologies:  HTML, PHP, MySQL and perl
·    Information technology project management
·    Database design, development, and management
·    Information Security
-    Linux or Unix System Administration (Linux preferred)
-    Internet Mail Server Administration
 
Successful candidates for this position will have significant experience in
managing technical teams and user-expectations in complex Information
Technology projects.  Successful candidates will possess excellent written
and verbal communications skills.

3. Position Available - Society Chronicler  

The Society Chronicler is the officer responsible to the President for
overseeing the production of all kingdom newsletters, local branch
newsletters and any other publications the President and/or Board of
Directors may designate. Duties include: formulating and maintaining the
Society's publication policies and reviewing the Kingdom newsletters for
compliance with those policies; warranting and maintaining the list of
Kingdom Chroniclers; working closely with the Kingdom Chroniclers and
advising them regarding changes in postal regulations, copyright law,
corporate policy and other modern concerns affecting Society periodicals;
and serving as a source of publishing expertise and advice for chroniclers
at all levels of the Society.  With the assistance of a warranted deputy,
the Chronicler of the Society is also responsible for oversight of the
Society Webminister functions. 

Applicants for this unpaid position should have a background in Society
Publications, preferably as a Kingdom Chronicler or Deputy Society
Chronicler. Membership in the Society is required, as are access to
telephone, mail, and email. Applicants should be able to meet quarterly
reporting deadlines in a timely manner.
