PRESIDENT’S REPORT OF THE DECEMBER 2006 BOARD CONFERENCE CALLS

Greetings: 
This is the President's report of the actions taken during the SCA
Inc.'s most recent Board of Directors conference calls, held December 5,
2006 and December 14, 2006. This material may be freely distributed, and
those receiving it are strongly encouraged to share this information
with the general membership. Permission is hereby granted to reprint all
or part of this report in Kingdom, Principality, and local newsletters.
It is requested that the source of the information be identified as
"from the President's Report of the December, 2006 Board conference
calls" and that, as far as possible, exact quotes be used. Please note
that this report is NOT the official Minutes of the Board conference
call. In case of any discrepancy between this document and the approved
Minutes, the Minutes are binding. Any inaccuracies in reporting
contained herein are my own. 

Subscriptions to the Board Minutes are available from the SCA Inc. A
subscription includes this report in addition to the Minutes approved at
the meeting. Past approved Minutes are also available on the SCA web
site (http://www.sca.org/). 

The next Board of Directors meeting will be held on January 27, 2007, in
San Diego, California, in the Kingdom of Caid. The deadline for
submission of agenda items is January 1, 2007. Please send hardcopies of
any agenda items to Renee Signorotti at the SCA, Inc. corporate office
by that date

OLD BUSINESS – 12/5/06

Corpora VI.D Revision – Society Marshal Equestrian Office Oversight

The proposed change to Corpora VI.D, which would clarify that the
Marshal of the Society has responsibility for equestrian activities
performed within the Society was approved by the Board. 

Administrative Suspension

The proposed change to Corpora X.C. Administrative Suspension, which
would grant the Society Seneschal some powers to sanction a person in
certain circumstances, and only with Board approval, was approved by the
Board.

Committee Membership Proposal

By consensus, no action was taken on a proposal to require all members
of committees of the Board of Directors of the SCA, Inc.

NEW BUSINESS – 12/14/06

Interim Society Chirurgeon Selection

Motion by Shawn Reed to appoint Kim McAuley (Kaellyn mac Dermott) to the
position of Interim Society Chirurgeon until a new Society Chirurgeon is
appointed or to a term ending no later than April 30, 2007.  Seconded by
Gabrielle Underwood.  In favor: Jeff Brown, Heather English, Tom Hughes,
Shawn Reed, Hal Simon, Gabrielle Underwood.  Chairman Williams exercised
his option to vote and did so in favor of the motion.  Opposed: none. 
Motion carried.  


EXECUTIVE SESSION – 12/5/06

Van Doren Review

Director Tom Hughes recused himself from discussion of or voting on this
issue.

A.  Vance Van Doren (Pieter van Dooren) Exile from the Realm

Motion by Gabrielle Underwood to uphold the Exile From the Realm of
Vance Van Doren (Pieter van Dooren) imposed by Bardolph and Brigh, King
and Queen of The Middle Kingdom, on September 16, 2006.  Seconded by
Heather English.  In favor: Jeff Brown, Heather English, Shawn Reed, Hal
Simon, Gabrielle Underwood. Opposed: None. Recused: Tom Hughes. Motion
carried.
Motion by Heather English to revoke the peerage of Vance Van Doren
(Pieter van Dooren) and degrade him from the Order of the Chivalry
effective December 5, 2006.  Seconded by Gabrielle Underwood.  In favor:
Jeff Brown, Heather English, Shawn Reed, Hal Simon, Gabrielle Underwood.
Opposed: None. Recused: Tom Hughes. Motion carried.
Motion by Heather English to revoke the peerage of Vance Van Doren
(Pieter van Dooren) and degrade him from the Order of the Pelican
effective December 5, 2006.  Seconded by Gabrielle Underwood.  In favor:
Jeff Brown, Heather English, Shawn Reed, Hal Simon, Gabrielle Underwood.
Opposed: None. Recused: Tom Hughes. Motion carried.
Motion by Gabrielle Underwood to revoke the Royal Peerage of County of
Vance Van Doren (Pieter van Dooren) effective December 5, 2006. 
Seconded by Jeff Brown.  In favor: Jeff Brown, Heather English, Shawn
Reed, Hal Simon, Gabrielle Underwood. Opposed: None. Recused: Tom
Hughes. Motion carried.
Motion by Gabrielle Underwood to revoke the title of Court Baron from
Vance Van Doren (Pieter van Dooren) effective December 5, 2006. 
Seconded by Jeff Brown.  In favor: Jeff Brown, Heather English, Shawn
Reed, Hal Simon, Gabrielle Underwood. Opposed: None. Recused: Tom
Hughes. Motion carried.
Motion by Shawn Reed that the Society Seneschal be directed to begin an
investigation into a possible revocation and denial of membership of
Vance Van Doren (Pieter van Dooren).  Seconded by Gabrielle Underwood. 
In favor: Jeff Brown, Heather English, Shawn Reed, Hal Simon, Gabrielle
Underwood. Opposed: None. Recused: Tom Hughes. Motion carried.

B.   Nancy Van Doren (Nan Astrid) Exile From the Realm

Motion by Gabrielle Underwood to uphold the Exile from the Realm of
Nancy Van Doren (Nan Astrid of York) imposed by Bardolph and Brigh, King

carried.
Motion by Gabrielle Underwood to revoke the title of Court Baroness from
Nancy Van Doren (Nan Astrid of York) effective December 5, 2006.

Shawn Reed, Hal Simon, Gabrielle Underwood. Opposed: None. Recused: Tom
Hughes. Motion carried.
Motion by Shawn Reed that the Society Seneschal be directed to begin an

The Board wishes to reaffirm that the stations of royal peerages and
nobility in the Midrealm carry with them certain expectations, including
to continually uphold the goals and ideals of the Kingdom. Any action
with respect to the removal of royal peerages and noble ranks in no way
impacts the honors and awards bestowed on individuals or groups
throughout the course of a reign.

Confirmation of Director Hal Simon

Motion by Gabrielle Underwood to confirm Hal Simon to Seat B on the
Board of Directors for the remainder of the standard term.  Seconded by
Jeff Brown.  In favor: Jeff Brown, Heather English, Tom Hughes, Shawn
Reed, Gabrielle Underwood, Jason Williams. Opposed: none. Motion
carried.
