Subject: No Merchanting at Estrella?

A number of the merchants at science fiction conventions are also SCA, and one
told me at a party last night that there is a likely boycott of Estrella next
year.  Why?  Well, those who have been know where the merchants usually are, on
the opposite side of the circle drive from the Troll.

This year, the Royalty will be there, and the merchants will be in the enclose
area of the softball fields, about a mile away.  They were told this is a
security measure.  The one to whom I spoke considered it a land-grab of prime
real estate.  There is only one gate in the fence around the softball fields,
and the kleig lights over the fields stay on until about 3:00am.

The merchants are talking about boycotting, figuring sales will be far down and
the grief and aggravation are not worth the trouble.

Any other information?
