I've seen a number of interesting posts about how the altercation Anya
mentions relates to the SCA, but let us consider how this relates to the
community in which it occurred.

In simple, four people backed one person against some shelving and blocked
the individual's egress.  These four people then proceeded to verbally abuse
their victim, until the victim was in tears.  If the victim had reason to
fear for their safety, then the four abusers have committed the criminal act
of assault.

Had a police officer witnessed this or the management filed a complaint,
these peers could easily have gone to jail.
