I am not at all saying this is the case in the original situation presented,
as I do not know.  I think we too often do not try and get group consensus
on many things we do at events.  The autocrat and a small group of
interested people put it on, but often we don't know what is happening until
the last meeting or the event.  This is not always the case, but people are
often better motivated to help when they had buy in in the first place.
