Filling up mail boxes???  This is the most traffic we've seen on the 
list in probably the last decade.   : )

This list _has_ been used for official pronouncements, but should it 
be?  Isn't that what the Ansteorra Announce was created for?  This list 
used to be an open forum for the free exchange of ideas..."a Kingdom 
living room" as it was described in the past.

Sometimes things have gotten a little heated, but it all worked out and 
we got to hear other opinions than our own.  The rule was just try to 
keep it civil.

We have been playing since 1977 (1987).  As Alexis accurately points out 
1) Not all of us care to participate in Face Book where certain voices 
can be censored rightly or wrongly and 2) If you actually stop and think 
about it, historically, changing nomenclature to be gender/neutral or 
"more inclusive" has in practice proven to be more exclusionary.  People 
get tired of being forced to bow to the wishes of a small minority and 
as Alexis points out, go away.  Fear of unintentional offense and 
ostracism for using the wrong phrase/word---which can change by the 
moment--is tiring at best.

and the SCA has _so_ departed from teaching actual historical practices 
many moons ago.  Maybe we should redefine the group as "teaching crafts 
of the middle ages."
