ARCH - Archery Marshal's Handbook

Gilli,

I seems to me that the same thing happens each time someone sees this
document. They ask or complain to someone in the archery community that is
in a position to know. And in each case, that someone corrects the
misinformation. Is that not exactly how the system is supposed to work?
Are not the marshals supposed to disseminate information to those around
them? Is that not what you and other marshals are doing when you tell them
the manual is incorrect? When I first saw the manual, I was confused and
upset. I voiced my concerns in a venue that seemed correct to me (here on
this list). And they were adressed. My confusion was ended and I'm all
better now.

Honestly, an announcement has been made to not use the manual and all the
archers in my area are aware of it. If someone new has a question about
it, tell them not to use it. But I don't see any point in making a big
issue out of it. It is certainly not the first time that bad information
has been issued in an Ansteorran publication, and it won't be the last.
Another manual will be published in due course, and it will probably have
some mistakes in it too, just as EVERY publication ever published has some
mistakes.

Remember that this is a volunteer organization and every person
contributing something, whether as a marshal, author of a publication, or
maker of arrows, is getting paid exactly nothing. Let it go. Please.

I am sorry if this offends you. But really, enough already! If you want
the manual fixed, then mark up a copy with corrections and send it to
whoever is doing the next revision. Maybe that will speed things up a bit.
Or if no one is currently working on it, then offer to do it yourself.
