Michael,

If the person is already Armored Combat authorized and is simply seeking
the new Missile Combat Weapons form then it can speed things up but it
is not strictly required.

The sample process that I sent out yesterday was necessarily brief to be
included in the email but there was a point where I said "and that they
know what a killing blow is and how to react to them." This is the
point where we take the person wanting to be authorized, in their full
armor, over to a group of fighters and marshals and for lack of a better
term "get them hit on a few times".

They don't have to show any proficiency with sword and shield or
anything other than missile weapons. They simply have to show that they
can behave as a Full Contact Combatant on the melee field. They should
experience light, good ,and heavy killing blows and thrusts and be able
to recognize them as such. It is very important that the first time
they get hit is not in an active mellee.

Again, the time needed to do these types of things is one of the reasons
that it is of the utmost importance that people needed authorization
arrange with the authorizing marshals in advance so that the appropriate
time can be set aside.
