It's not an unfair advantage.  A long blade will often be slower and can be
beaten by someone who plays well inside.  While every new fighter seems to
decide that case is invincible, a good dagger wielder can beat case through
judicious use of the inside game.

Yes.

Maybe.  Is the short person trying to play the same snipy range game the ape
armed man may be?  Or is he already skilled at getting into a postition
inside the other man's guard?  The short man may just be cancelling an
advantage he'd already gained through training.
