No. I have not seen a big deal made of this situation with heavy rapier. It
is only recently, since 40" epees are becoming more numerous in lists, that
an outcry of "foul" has arisen.

While sabre bells do give a slight advantage in covering the hand, there are
other means by which people try to gain greater advantages. But to answer
the question, I do not consider it (or sabre guards, or quillions) an
advantage per se, but merely a difference in kit configuration, that has to
be considered in applied strategy, both by the wielder, and his/her
opponent.

Not necessarily. there are a billion other factors besides blade length that
contribute to winning a bout.

What no one realizes is that Dr. Jorden is actually Sandy's husband in
disguise....and he gave himself a vasectomy to complete the illusion,
knowing that once he confronts her about her adulterous behavior, he can
call 1-800-REVERSE and get a nice doctor in Houston to undo his self-applied
surgical contraceptive.
