Bards - Performing arts at the war

For a kingdom without that many performers at the war, there was an
awful lot of entertainment!
Special kudos to the bards who helped entertain during the delay before
court at Gulf Wars - Ansteorra really shone as they jumped in to fill in
the long wait. Lord Gerald of Leesville from Stargate started the ball
rolling, but we heard from over 20 performers that evening while Their
Majesties were delayed.
I think one of the biggest problems for many of the bards at the war was
the timing of Candlemas. Speaking for three of us in the Stargate area,
we had to work that weekend - especially since we were taking vacation
for the war. I don't know that there's a solution to this problem -
we'll never find a time or place that meets everyone's needs - unless we
hold the competition at the war itself.
Speaking of the war and bardic activity - His Majesty has issued a
challenge to the bards of Ansteorra: to write and perform more war
songs - songs that can be sung by an army marching into battle. The
songs will need to be presented to him in court, or some other public
setting, along with a copy of the words and music. All entries will
then be cataloged into a songbook for the populace. The prize for the
winning piece, which will be awarded at the end of their reign, is a
bowl-back mandolin. Good Luck!
