  From Simonn of Amber Isle:

I want to compliment more than a dozen who went to BorderKeep site this past weekend June 3-4, who labored to create the beginning of the 30-foot wall which will bridge the Rampant Gate with the "new" cinderblock tall tower yet to be built. I am immensely proud of all of you for what was accomplished. I was even more astounded when we did the math. We laid 103 blocks on Saturday (which we estimated was about 17 blocks per hour for 6 hours), and taking into account getting things out of the shed, setting up at the work site, getting the water situation in hand, etc., that production was amazing.

What is even "more" amazing is the second day's work. At the end of the day we did a block count---which numbered 328. (Our previous "BEST" weekend effort was 245. We started about 8 A.M. and quit about 3 p.m. so 6and half hours with a lunch break divided into 225 (Sunday's production), that's an astounding 32 blocks per hour! Never have a few done so much with so little (pay)! Again my compliments and my thanks to the more than a dozen who came and worked! It was good to work with Sean and his brother in law; with Adolf & Isobel, Robert & Eric; Aaron & Kimela; Amy; Phocas, Josh, Zane and Tessa.

Here is the schedule for the upcoming Castle Work Weekends:

     June 16-18 June 30 - July 2 July 14-15 July 16-21 (A full week of work, camped at the castle, with wrap-around week-ends) July 21-23 August 11-13 August 25-27

Please hear my plea..THE CASLE "NEEDS" WORKERS. Whether you are a Veteran or a First-Timer on a construction crew, THE CASTLE NEEDS YOU! I realize that the summer will be hot. That many of us have contrary work schedules. That we have other things to do as well as projects around the house. However, this summer "will be" as challenging if not "more challenging" as the summer (and fall) when we built the original cinder block and timber gatehouse in 17 weekends. I realize that It requires some sacrifice from any who come to build. The time and effort anyone can invest is rewarded by a "job well done" feeling and the knowledge that hundreds will be able to come play at the castle.

For any part of the weekends that you might come, bring your
camping gear if you can stay over, sunscreen, hydration, personal bug spray, and picnic meals. Work items to bring are
work gloves, tools for mortaring; carpentry tools for constructing stairs and for the outside surfaces of the shower house/s; yard care shovels, rakes, edger.
You might not need to bring a lawn chair..... we don't sit down much :)

During the long week of July 16-17-18-19-20-21-22-23, if you will be on site for an evening meal, Phocas has suggested that we work out a schedule for providing suppers for the crew staying on site. Tessa will make an evening meal one night for camp, Monday, July 17th. Please RSVP to tessa at gt.rr.com if you will want that meal.

Note: The current Castle Committee includes: Aaron Whitewolf, Adolf the Bear, Antoine Picard, Armand & Catrin DeLacy, Elrique de Netterville, Elizabeth & Santiago of Green Mountain Keep, Ericus Silverhand, John Sterling, Leah, Malcolm, Phocus, Vincois Picard, Ricciardo de Niccolosi, and Simonn & Tessa. If I have omitted anyone, please excuse me, and please advise. We want to publish a correct listing on the bordermarch dot org webpage.
