Or who have not completely decided. (I'm not for it, I'm not
completely against it, and I'm thoroughly convinced it ain't time
yet...)

I don't want any more "power" in the kingdom or any other current or
projected sub-branch thereof than I already may or may not have. I'm
not in a position currently to give any of the "big jobs" the
attention which they deserve. I have the attention of those in those
jobs currently when I need it, but that could be said of any other
member of the Society (at least as long as things are running the
way I believe they are intended to).

Ya left out "for the love of the Society", Gunthar. "Bad belt, no
biscuit." <gryn>

And, in direct contradiction to this 'tude you have expressed, that
is exactly why "I'm in this". For the love of the Society and the
ideals it (usually) represents.

Bingo bongo boingo. Exactly. Who would *really* want, do justice to,
and deserve to be Coronet?

And, out of curiousity, who would concentrate that much harder on
Crown Tourney to keep from feeling obligated to try for Coronet?

With due respect and appreciation, I'm fairly convinced he may
already be at a "level of service" to receive consideration as for a
peerage.

<gryn>

Delusions, more likely. Nope, not Seneschal anytime soon... Bard,
now that might strike closer to home -- but I don't need it *for
myself*. I'd be remiss in my duties as Bard and bard not to compete,
or at least assist with the competition, however.

I have stated openly before that I do have a long-term personal goal
of eventually serving at least a year in every major _local_ office,
to prove *to myself* that I can do so. Two down, several to go, a
few deputy / supporting positions also under my hat. Never enough
time, energy, or resources, as well.

Duh, probably not. At least for a while, anyway.

What it _should_ sound like is "training & testing ground", I think.
With one or two notable exceptions, I can't immediately recall a
recent Kingdom Seneschal who was not first :seasoned: as either a
Regional or as some other high-demand OTJ training position.
(Kingdom Deputy, large-branch Seneschal, Crown, whatever...)

Maybe yes, maybe no. Some people will no doubt also *lose* from the
formation of a new branch of the SCA as well. That is "life"...

It may help people to feel noticed for their involvement, certainly,
but the counter to that thought still remains "why not notice them
with more regularity (and perhaps uniformity) for what they are
already doing?"

Glad to see you joining this discussion, Gunthar. Welcome to the list.
