Greetings, all:

Forgive me, but I still don't understand what the big deal is. To my (perhaps
too simplistic) way of thinking, this is a straighforward, simple situation.

1) The Baronies want to practice together, somewhere that
   a) is public and therefore percieved as "safe" for newcomers to visit
   b) has all the desired facilities (lighting, restrooms, etc.)
   c) has a population of potential new members (for example, college students)

2) U of H seems like an ideal candidate site.

3) To practice at U of H we need to register a student organization. Again, in
my (perhaps simplistic) opinion, it doesn't matter whether we call this
organization "The Coastal Regional Medieval Club", "The Rattan and Wire
Appreciation Club" (to borrow from Cian's jest) or "The Club Formerly Known as
Prince". It's just a @&!* club, whose purpose is to host our fighter practice
(whose purpose is to add to the quality of campus life and recruit new members
into the SCA).

To me, that's all there is to it. I really, truly don't understand why it seems
to Lady Adela and others that there is *more* to this. Yesterday, Sir Cian put
it this way:

> If these are separate organizations their requirements have nothing to
> do with each other. The student organization satisfies the University's
> rules and the announcements make it part of the SCA infrastructure. It

Is it *really* more complicated than that?

However, Lady Adela is beginning to sway me that forming a group at U of H just
has too many negative connotations. She very eloquently presents what sound like
some very valid points. I would rather see this process started over, than
create a situation in which Twr Cath's chances of being reactivated are called
into question. Perhaps it is in everyone's best interest if we look elsewhere. I
move that we do so.

Do I hear a second?

Michael
