ES - Safety Issue

I changed the thread name because you did bring up a different point --
I think it was Gulf War last year that there was actually a safety issue
with
people wearing metal cleats.  Regardless of whether it was Gulf War or
Pennsic, this is what I remember: The ground was pretty soft, so fighters
wanted to grip better and wore cleats.  However, when someone with
cleats would hit or get hit, the cleats prevented the fighter's body from
moving, which means that a strike was considerably harder.  Also, it annoyed
the hell out of some other fighters who had remained more authentic and
suffered a disadvantage in footing.
