[Elfsea] A Can of Worms

OK.  I'm going to very gently drop another worm in this can.
Parents - be aware that you do NOT have to let CPS into your
home without a court order.  But what REALLY scares the
heck out of me is that CPS can go to your child's school, remove
them from class and place them in Foster care (or where ever)
without notifying parents.  And the school can not, by law, tell
the parents what happened to their kids.  Just some legal stuff
we found out ~

My former sister-in-law called CPS on my son and his wife (she
hopes to discredit him in the eyes of her parents so they'll disown
him and let her inherit everything, instead of her deceased brother's
children inheriting his part... long story).  It was devastating but, in
the end, she wound up looking the fool and they came through OK.

Also, my sister is a foster parent for the Waco area and has kids in
her care because of  neglect and abuse. She strives to keep her
house in order because the kids need structure and discipline --
according to the CPS case workers, a messy house means the
kids receive no discipline. Which is really strange, because CPS
won't allow foster parents to 'spank' children as a form of dicipline,
but the crazy things they suggest as an alternative sound a lot like
torture and abuse to me. But then, that's a whole 'nother can of
worms - we'll leave the lid on that one.
