I was assuming that such replies could be sent to this list, to give
other people a chance to rebut.

Lady Cahira, or Asterisk, but not Lady Asterisk. The only real-world
herald that gets "Lord" is Lord Lyon King of Arms of Scotland, and
that's not because he's a herald or even a principal herald, but
because he's a judge (of Lyon Court, the heraldic court of Scotland),
and such a judge gets "Lord". The principal herald of England is
Garter, not Lord Garter.

This does have some SCA significance. In the real world, territorial
titles are a source of heraldic titles (examples in the rule text
below). For some time after the original 1990 revision of the Rules
for Submission, this was not allowed because of the SCA practice of
"Lord/Lady <title>", which could be viewed as a claim to landedness.
However, "Lord/Lady" in that context was dropped and therefore RfS
III.2.b.iii could be changed (10/94 CL, including the rationale) to
include

place-names ("Windsor" Herald, "Calais" Pursuivant, "Sicily"
    Herald),

Probably, for those who might want to participate only in that. I'd
still think about a Web page as a longer-term solution, for the
emblazons and for seeing the whole discussion.
