Client #2 wants some form of "Anne" in France, probably 12th century
but she's open to later, with the locative byname "d'Aufay" or some
form thereof. The last is the tricky part.

"The Battle abbey roll: With some account of the Norman lineages,
Volume 1" by Catherine Lucy Wilhelmina Powlett Cleveland (Duchess of)
found on Google Books at http://books.google.com/books?id=yV8JAAAAIAAJ
has on page 342 under the heading Danway "from Auffay, near Rouen",
and then goes on to say '"Goubert d'Aufay' is entered on the Dives
roll" and to list "John de Aufey" and "Juliana de Aufey" in
Somersetshire in the Rotuli Hundredorum in 1272, and "Robert de Alfey,
Daunfey, or Daufey" as a tenant of the Chapter of St Paul's at
Kemsworth in 1222. The given names, at least, look normalized to me,
but I suspect the bynames are not.

There does indeed seem to be a medieval town of Auffay in France, but
I need period spelling evidence, of course.
