HERB - ginger/galingale-growing

 one thing I've noticed about ginger is that while all ginger is aromatic
not all of it does well in cooking... I remember growing white ginger and
shell ginger in Calif and they both tasted very different.  Here in
Ansteorra, I've grown regular store ginger which has not bloomed yet,
hidden ginger and a yellowish ginger.  Since the roots all look alike to me
I don't know which ones I get.

Someone said that if you can find a root of tumeric you can grow it as
well.  Has anyone tried this?
