Some time ago, weeding the lawn, I started checking the plants against the
herbals:
I had dandelion (various uses including pot herb), chickweed (ditto),
shepherd's purse (ditto)
purselane (ditto),
I stopped composting my weeds and started putting them in salads and stews.
I also had alehof (aka ground ivy, _Glecoma hederacea_) used in Period in place
of hops (when the hops ran out) and violets (not the fragrant one, but make
nice boquets), and _Veronica peregrina_ (from Europe, but does it have a use?)
And now its spring and I am planning to weed my lawn for a salad tonight if the
severe thunderstorms will please move on.
