HERB - Thyme (was lavender)

I had really poor luck with thyme as long as I took care of it. Then I
filled a hole of a concrete block with dirt and some compost and planted some
seeds. I watered them til they sprouted, then mostly ignored it except
during the extended dry spells of our SE Texas summer. It didn't get any
water for a week and a half at one point, during one of the hottest parts of
our very hot and humid summer. The more I ignored it, the better it did.

I had to leave those plants behind when we moved a few months back, but it
worked a second time. About 4 1/2 months ago, I filled up a block here and
put in a tiny seedling I bought, watered it daily for a week or two, then
ignored it except to make sure it had water at least once a week (we had
about 2 months in the spring with little rain). The plant's grown down every
side of that block, and I've had to cut it back several times.

I guess some plants are a just a bit shy of being noticed :).
