HERB - Skin problems

Greetings all.

I have a friend who is having some foot problems.   The heels of his feet
get very, very hard, thick, and then crack and bleed.  I asked him if it was
a fungus, and he said not.

I have the same problem myself, almost every fall.

Any suggestions on what causes it, and what I could put into a salve for
them?
