Little bit of trivia, just because I have it in my head and it
won't go away (so I must inflict it on the list). Within out
lifetimes and those of our parents and grandparents, farm
women used to (and sometimes still do) make pancakes and
dip the heads of queen anne's lace flowers into the pancake
as it cooks. The flower head is cut off close to the pancake
(so the short stems don't stick out).

Why, you ask? Because it helped with dropsy, which is another
word for edema.
