[Hou-announce] OT - Sirrom and ABC13 and Talesia

Greetings, 
Those of you into Mid-East Dance may enjoy this news blurb about the Sirrom School of Dance that aired on TV last week.  Check out the link for the TV spot.  
 
You will also see a short glimpse of former-Stargater, HL Ahlianna Foal and her daughter Talesia, as they demonstrate dance.  Talesia has a wee bit of a problem, as her dance prop sprung a leak while she was 'live'... you can read the tale below.  :-)

Yesterday Talesia and I helped the school by being background for a
live interview at the school. In the video on the website it is edited
with clips shot at lunchtime, but our segment went out live on the
air.

We found out about the interview the day before, so we had zero prep
time. I managed to grab costumes for us before heading out in the
morning, and I took our poi just in case. I didn't know how many
people would be there, nor what we would do, but we showed up to be
supportive.

Talesia decided she wanted to spin poi, and that was fine. We had a
short time to practice there at the studio before the camera rolled,
and all went well. The cameraman told us 30 seconds, and THEN the
noise started. Chk-chk-chk. Chk-chk-chk-chk-chk.
Chkchkchkchkchkchkchkchkchkchkchkchkchk... One of Talesia's poi sprang
a leak! No time to fix it. T looked at me and asked what to do - I
said "Keep spinning!" It sounded like hail pelting the mirrors behind
us, and the floor in front of us, and we stepped on little plastic
beads as the live interview went on behind us. With a cute 7-year-old,
of course the camera focused on her. Little trooper, she kept spinning
- the show must go on!

There were beads EVERYWHERE. We swept and cleaned, but the classes
after us were still finding beads everywhere. One of Talesia's poi had
completely deflated. You can't tell it in the video, it all looks
great. I'm hoping this does great things for the school, they could
REALLY use the exposure. There were a number of dancers in the clip,
they did a great job, especially on short notice!
