[Loch-ruadh] New Siege Rules

Good evening everyone,

It is my unhappy duty as siege marshal to report that
the new siege rules have been passed by the BoD. I
haven't had a chance to actually look at the passed
rules, but I'm imagining they are about the same as
the rules we were confronted with at the first of the
year.

In other words, ~425 of our 500 ballista bolts are no
longer legal. Bungeelistas have been outlawed, so if
we lose the 3x5 cards Lawrence signed this past year,
or have to make extensive repairs on them, they will
no longer be allowed on the field. PVC is no longer
allowed for shafting of ballista bolts(however it is
still allowed for reinforcement of the bolt).

There are other rules that have been changed, but I
can't think of them at the moment. Those above are
the big BIG changes.

Now we need to look ahead to war. We need to get our
engines out of storage and repair them if necessary.
For those bungeelistas damaged to a considerable
degree, we may need to build torsion boxes for them.

Before we go haywire on rebuilding ammo, we need to
see if special conventions will be set up for Gulf
Wars. If conventions allowing the old bolts are not
allowed, then we have some serious work to do. Those
of you who attended our initial bolt building parties
last January know what a pain in the behind the new
bolts are to make, and how slow the process goes. It
will literally take months to get our bolts up to the
new specs.

As upset as I am about this, we knew this day would
come. I'm confident that we can rebuild and renovate
our siege equipment in a short amount of time and be
better prepared for war than ever before and be twice
the presence we were last year.

below I have attached the Society Siege Marshal's
message to the SCA-siege list.
