To those with electricity,

Alvin, Pearland, and all parts South and Southwest remain without electricity. All school districts basically south of the beltway are closed at least until Wednesday. Most are closed until further notice. Flooding was extensive in Galveston and Friendswood counties as well as southern Brazoria; however, the good news is that it does appear that the biggest problem is electricity (except for Galveston which was devastated & areas around Galveston Bay). Please advise loved ones to boil water!!! Pumping stations are very unreliable--for example, Jake told me today that Alvin's pump station that was up and running, suddenly stopped working today.

I pray constantly for those in Houston without electricity and water. I hope those who stayed are getting through. Isaac and I are in Prairie View with our parents but Jacob had to stay behind in Alvin as part of the police department there. Everyday gets harder without the necessities, but the damage to that area was minimal.

I urge you to be patient if you evacuated. Officials are begging people to stop returning. Nothing is open because there is no electricity. But even with these pleas for evacuees to stay away the freeways going into town (even in flooded areas) were parking lots today (people were having to leave there vehicles because they couldn't continue with the flooded freeways). Going home just makes you another person with no electricity, water, food or help and sometimes with no shelter if you get home to find your house damaged. If you are safe, stay safe at least until electricity is restored in your area. This is very frustrating for already stressed police and first responders who are already spread thin dealing with the situation.

God bless every one of you and know that you have all been in our thoughts and prayers constantly. Stay safe and dry,

Anita & Isaac (Isabel Hawksworth of the Loch)
