[Ravensfort] Populace issues - another thought

I actually thought the populace meeting WAS a business meeting.

Back in the day when we had a strong contingent in Cleveland, we had one
populace meeting there every month, at the public library there. One in
Huntsville on the first Thursday, then one in Cleveland on the third
Thursday. Both populace meetings, both business meetings. Not everybody went
to both, but quite a few people did. If officers need to discuss things
privately, is there not an officer's list like this one? Closed doors only
result in hurt feelings.

If anything, the populace meeting should be considered an officers meeting
which the whole populace can attend...wouldn't it be nice if some
parliamentary procedure were followed, in which minutes were read; reports
were read; and motions were made, seconded, and voted on? An agenda should
be set in which each officer reads his or her report, and in cases of an
upcoming event, the event and feast stewards would read their reports. Guild
principals' reports would be included in the arts-and-sciences minister's
report. This whole habit of populace meetings turning into open-mike bitch
sessions got old a long, LONG time ago. Getting things done and
communicating with the populace should not be a chore to be dreaded.

Just my farthing and a half...

Pax et bonum,
Detlef

He has told you, O mortal, what is good;
and what does the LORD require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?
