There is a lady who sometimes attends Silver Rylle feasts who is allergic to
wheat (more specifically to glutens). It is severe enough to extend to the
forms of vinegar which are made from wheat (ie white distilled, or so she
informed me). However, she is able to eat the insides of a pie cooked in a
wheat crust, just not the crust. She has called before several events now to
get the menu beforehand, and at the last one was able to eat, if I remember
correctly, 5 or six out of the 8 dishes offered. That did not require any
rearranging on my part; I simply followed Ras' rule of allowing enough
variety.
She makes sure to call ahead, and also to bring her own food along just in
case. She will come up to the serving window as items are going out to
doublecheck which item is which, so that she does not inadvertently get
something she shouldn't. I have no problem with this; she is invariably
polite about it.
