[Sca-cooks] Happy 4TH Of July!

We (my brother and I) used to blow up the zucchinis that got too big
(you know, the foot-locker sized ones). In most of the towns of my
acquaintance (born and raised and currently living in Montana),
fireworks weren't allowed to be sold within city limits--oh darn, I have
to cross the street to be in the county....<ggg> I don't know if it's
still true, but the "best" fireworks (M80s and such, and anything like
bottle rockets) had to be purchased on one of the Indian
Reservations...I know my dad made a few trips to Browning himself....
And they're technically not legal to shoot off within the city limits of
the town I live in, although its a rule more noted in its absence than
obedience.....We were a bit more careful last year when the fire danger
was so terribly, terribly high.
Obligatory food content (besides the zukes): our Barony always partakes
in the festivities at a local historical museum (one of our members is
the senior curator there, and we also do a fair amount of volunteer work
out there) on the fourth--set up pavilions, have arts and sciences
displays, set up an eric and fight, etc. I made (for the first time)
sekanjabin and the lemon concentrate, and brought them to add to our
water. I think I'm in *love* with the sekanjabin, which I made with
fresh mint and champagne vinegar (because that's what I had in the
house). I'm going to start keeping a bottle of it in my feast basket
for feasts (I rarely drink alcohol at feasts, and it'll be a _great_
alternative to soda pop). <g>

learned ;-)
