[Sca-cooks] Remember a msg about a Florilegium email address?

Some of you may remember that several months ago, someone posted a
message on this list asking me if a gentle using the email address
"Floriligeum at aol.com" was familar to me or connected to my Florilegium
website.

I believe my reply was something along the line of, that no I didn't,
but that I had no control over such things, anyway. Someone else
mentioned that this person might have been using the literal
definition of this term meaning a bunch of flowers.

After this came up, I sent an email to this address. It turns out that
lo and behold, this lady runs a flower shop and was indeed using the
term in it's literal sense. More surprising, is that this lady and I
had indeed corresponded in the past. She had inquired whether I had any
informtion on medieval wedding flower arrangements several years ago.
I pointed her to what little I had then on this subject and with the
multitude of other concerns promptly forgot about this exchange.

Well, this lady is now in the SCA having been in for about a year and
she has done some additional research on period use of flowers and
specifically their use in wedding ceremonies. The Known World can
now benefit from this as she has written two articles for the
Florilegium, which are now online:
Wed-Flowers-art (20K) 6/17/01 "Flowers for a Period Wedding" by
Sarra of
                                       Caer Adamant (Sarah Dressler).

Gillyflower-art (8K) 6/17/01 "A Gillyflower by any Other Name
Would Still
Smell of Cloves" by Sarra of Caer
Adamant

She is gradually getting more involved in the SCA and hoping to get
her children and her husband involved. She won't be at Pennsic as she
thinks that would be a bit much for a first, non-local SCA event,
particularly with a small child. However, I hope anyone in the area
(Shire of Caer Adamant - Deleware) will look for her and help make
her and her family feel welcome.

Thanks,
  THLord Stefan li Rous
