1. Yes they do Handwoven magazine. Great dye and Felting books too.
2. Misha is about a half hour [ cross town] from me [currently]. And we are
trying to find ways to get together. I have some 'beginners' work he can do.
And a work programme to 'purchase' one of the Tri-Angle Shawl looms. ]

food part:
3. herbs & food that dye *can be* hazardous in that concentration. Turmeric,
one can [ 2 oz] and two Gallons water. Makes a nice Lite yellow with a slow
hot dip. Heavy mustard yellow with a long soak. { Actually *it is* the
yellow of today's mustard}.
But , !, Beets can be washed out, as many foods are. Maybe to leave behind
only a light stain. Poor dyestuff. this is one of the four collegium
classes I'm doing for Yarnvid this 28 July. in one hour... Intro to
Equipment for Beginning Dyers, during this class will be a demo [with
turmeric] using cotton & silk & wool & wood.

The biggest hazard is the mordant. Heavy metal poisoning. With young and
pets about, have a friend do it, or forget it for the time being. Many dyes
will work with *out* mordant; just a limit on the range of colours. That's
why a "bad" cook pot became the dye pot. Keep special dedicated equipment &
consider *where* to dispose of material after......

PS don't used the leftover Turmeric water for spicing in the next stew.
